To all my friends who have furbabies (specifically doggies):
I have been in two car wrecks with Sheldon. One of them happened when I was rear-ended while I was stopped and the other happened while I was driving around 65-70 mph on the interstate and a large commercial truck decided to merge over into my lane and into my car. I was knocked into a ditch by the tire of the truck and ended up very far from where I was hit.
Both times, I was scared to look over into the other seat because I thought Sheldon would have hit something, broke his neck and died. (He only weighs about 17 pounds!) But, both times, I had him in a dog car harness that acts as a seatbelt. If it weren’t for that seatbelt, my dog (which you know is my baby) probably would have been dead or seriously injured.
Please, for the love of dogs, get your furbaby a car harness or put them in a crate when in the car. You can even use a normal harness and attach it to the seatbelt with a carabiner. Anything would be better than getting into a wreck and looking over to see that your furbaby did not survive.
